She had been bed fast for about four months following a stroke. She was in her 82nd year. She was born in Moravia, October 3, 1858, her maiden name was Frantiska Zelnicek. She was married to Joseph Kucera at Watzeldorf, Germany August 2, 1880. Eight years later they moved to America, and settled in Brainard where they lived for fifteen years. In 1903 they moved to a farm near Dwight where they lived until 1918, then retired and moved to Dwight. Mr. Kucera preceeded his wife in death about ten years ago. Mrs. Kucera is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mary Nevole, of Dwight, Mrs. Theresa Tamchak of Roberts, Idaho, and Mrs. Bertha Karnik of Dwight. One son died in infancy, and a daughter Mrs. Anna Karnik, also died some years ago. Mrs. Kucera is also survived by one brother in Moravia and by 25 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held this (Thursday) morning at 10 o'clock at Assumption Church, Dwight, with Rev. B. Bauer, O. S. B., officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dwight, with six of Mrs. Kucera's grandsons, Joseph and John Nevole, Joseph and Charles Kuthan, and Milo and William Karnik as pallbearers. ''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), March 14, 1940, p. 1, col. 4 DWIGHT WOMAN PASSED ON Funeral of Mrs. Frantiska Kucera Thursday Morning, March 7 Dwight, March 11 – Funeral services for Mrs. Frantiska Kucera, who passed away at her home in Dwight Monday, March 4, having been bedfast four months following a stroke of paralysis, were held in Assumption Catholic church, Dwight, at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, in charge of the pastor, Rev. B. Bauer, O.S.B. The pallbearers were Milo Karnik, William Karnik, Joseph Kuthan, Joseph Nevole, Charles Kuthan and John Nevole, grandsons of Mrs. Kucera. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery at Dwight. In attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were Charles Kuthan of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kuthan and John Nevole of David City. Mrs. Kucera was aged 81 years, 5 months and 1 day at time of death. She was born Frantiska Zelnicek, daughter of Joseph and Mary Zelnicek, October 3, 1858, in Moravia, where she grew to young womanhood. She was married in Watzeldorf, Germany, August 2, 1880, to Joseph Kucera. They came to Nebraska in 1888 and located in Brainard, where they resided 15 years, then moved to a farm near Dwight in 1918, residing there until retiring from farm life and moving to Dwight. Mr. Kucera passed away about 15 years ago. Five children, one son and four daughters, were obrn to Mr. and Mrs. Kucera, of whom the son died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Anna Karnik, died several years ago. The surviving daughters are Mrs. Mary Nevole and Mrs. Bertha Karnik of Dwight and Mrs. Theresa Tomchak of Roberts, Idaho. Mrs. Kucera also leaves a brother in Moravia, 25 grandchildren. Mrs. Kucera was a devout member of the Catholic church and had many friends. ____ Card of Thanks – We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to Rev.
