Description	:	Relatives and friends of Frebert Hackbarth were shocked last Wednesday forenoon to hear of his sudden death. He appeared in his usual good health in the morning and after a good breakfast, did his chores. Later in the morning he came in the house and complained of a chest pain. In a few minutes, he passed away. Frebert Hackbarth, a son of August and Elvina Hackbarth was born in Morgan township on the old Hackbarth homestead, September 10, 1885. In a few minutes, he passed away. Frebert Hackbarth, a son of August and Elvina Hackbarth was born in Morgan township on the old Hackbarth homestead, September 10, 1885. He died in his own home on January 16 at the age of 66 years. He was the 13th child of a family of fifteen children. One brother and twin sisters died in infancy. At this time there survive two sisters, Theresa Hackbarth of Dows and Mrs. Lydia Braeger of Osakie, Minnesota and two brothers, John Hackbarth and Fred Hackbarth of Dows. He spent his boyhood days on the farm with his family, learning well the business of farming, the occupation which he followed all his life. His scholastic education was obtained in the public schools of Franklin County. He went with his parents to the Evangelical church and was a member until it disbanded. He then joined the Methodist church of Morgan township and has been a member ever since. He served his church on the board of stewards and trustees, being chairman of the latter for several years. On February 17, 1914 he married Miss Emma Knoll of Ackley, Iowa and took his bride to the new home he was establishing and where they lived ever since. To this union was born one son, Arlen Hackbarth who now lives in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mrs. Hackbarth was always interested in the welfare of his community. He was a good neighbor and was a booster for the things worth while. At an early age he joined the Morgan Township Band. He became director of this band and served as such for twenty-five years.
