Description	:	The following has been contributed by Peggy Bargen Duey: Fred A. Schreiber was born in Traer, Kansas on Jan. 22, 1900. His parents were Simon and Mary Schreiber. He was the youngest of seven children. All have preceded him in death except one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Weathers who lives in Stockton, Calif. Fred was an employee of the Burlington Railroad and was operator at Geneva; and agent at Elk Creek, and Chester from 1946 through 1969, where he retired. Schreiber was born in Traer, Kansas on Jan. 22, 1900. His parents were Simon and Mary Schreiber. He was the youngest of seven children. All have preceded him in death except one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Weathers who lives in Stockton, Calif. Fred was an employee of the Burlington Railroad and was operator at Geneva; and agent at Elk Creek, and Chester from 1946 through 1969, where he retired. He and Virginia Bumgarner were married June 2, 1926, at the Bumgarner home. The happy couple were, the parents of two daughters, Mary, wife of Calvin Hutchison of Scottsbluff, Nebr., and Carol, wife of Wendell Lowery of Davenport, Nebr. There are four grandsons, Michael and Mark Hutchison and Tim and David Lowery, who with his wife, Virginia, survive him as do relatives and friends. As an infant he was baptized in the Lutheran faith. He became a member of the United Methodist Church in 1946. He was faithful to his church and was an active member. He was a member of Chester Lodge 298 A F & A M and served as secretary. He was Past Worshipful Master of the Geneva A F & A M and of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chester Chapter 289. He was a retired member of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers. Fred was a family man, a kind and loving husband, an excellent father and a proud and happy grandfather. Funeral services were held Monday, April 18, 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church, Chester, with Revs. Opal and Norman Crounse officiating. Organ music was provided by Mrs. Dolan Frye. Casket bearers were Kieth Frye, Jack Long, Neal Eickman, Frank Korensky, Max Larkins, Kenneth Adamson; honorary casket bearers were Jim Hunter, Gene Nesmith, Eli Jewell, Henry Mathiesen, Adolph Nemec, Elijah Mumm, Bill Williams, Clay Cafferty. Interment was made in Geneva Cemetery. Tibbetts Bros. Funeral Home of Belleville was in charge of arrangements. Chester Herald, unknown date
