Description	:	Fred Aerni, 78, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday, July 7, 2014, at Bryan LGH West, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 10, 10:30 A.M. at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with Father Tom Weisbecker celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to start a scholarship fund for Fred's grandchildren. Fred Aerni was born February 4, 1936, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Fred L. and Lucile (Lutz) Aerni. He graduated from Kramer High School in 1954, and then attended the University of Nebraska. He entered the U.S. Air Force on April 30, 1956 and was honorably discharged on November 14, 1957. Fred returned to Columbus and worked at Becton Dickinson for 19 years. On November 11, 1967, Fred was united in marriage to Linda German. To this union two children were born, Brian and Robyn. Fred then went to work for Frontier Airlines from 1967 until 1986. They were stationed in Fort Hayes, KS, Denver, CO, and Omaha, NE. He retired from Frontier in 1986 and they returned to Columbus where Fred went to work for Appleton Electric until he retired from there in 2000. Fred is survived by: Wife: Linda Aerni of Columbus, NE Son: Brian (Bobbie) Aerni of Columbus, NE Daughter: Robyn (Ross) Lammers of Fort Calhoun, NE Grandchildren: Ethan & Emily Aerni Natalie, Lauren, and Samuel Lammers Brother: Larry Aerni of Portland, OR Mother-in-law: Romaine German of Columbus, NE Brothers-in-law: Bill (Colleen) German of Omaha, NE Dick (Sue) German of Omaha, NE Terry German of Columbus, NE Todd German of Lincoln, NE Dan (Cheryl) German of Omaha, NE Sisters-in-law: Susan (Dale) Gonka of Columbus, NE Barb (Dave) Degn Rich of Columbus, NE
