Description	:	On the 25th of March in 1882 the fifth child of Jeanette Chambers Moody and Charles Moody was born. Fred Bolton Moody was born on the family homestead at Big Lake, Manitoulin Island, in Sandfield Township on lot 18, concession 10. He was named after his Uncle Bolton Banks who was married to his father's sister Sarah Amelia Moody. Fred attended the first old log school at Big Lake. Read More	On the 25th of March in 1882 the fifth child of Jeanette Chambers Moody and Charles Moody was born. Fred Bolton Moody was born on the family homestead at Big Lake, Manitoulin Island, in Sandfield Township on lot 18, concession 10. He was named after his Uncle Bolton Banks who was married to his father's sister Sarah Amelia Moody. Fred attended the first old log school at Big Lake. His early days were spent on the family farm but he soon learned the building trade and was known across the island for the many barns he built. He hewed timbers by hand for the coal docks in Little Current , built a number of cottages on Lake Manitou and worked at Stoddard's Mill when Tugs and log -booms were a familiar sight on Lake Manitou.. On December the 20th 1906 he was united in marriage to Flora Ingram. She was the daughter of Thomas Ingram and Margaret McCauley of Manitowaning, Assiginack Township, Manitoulin Island. A daughter Margaret was born, died after birth and is buried in Big Lake Cemetery. In 1914 Fred purchased the property across the road from where he was born. This property backed onto Lake Manitou and the Bay is known as Moody's Bay. Fred and Flora remained there until the spring of 1948 when he retired and moved to Mindemoya where he built his house. Among his favorite pastimes was Pitching Horseshoe, playing Crokinole or a game of King Pedro with his many friends. He was a member of the Golden Age Club in Mindemoya.. Fred passed away on the 30th of April 1973 at the age of 91 years. He is buried beside his wife in Hilly Grove Cemetery at Manitowaning on Manitoulin Island.. Sandra Bryant(grand niece)
