Description	:	Fred Ellsworth Clark was born on Oct. 16, 1925, near Norwood. He was one of three children born to Mildred Virginia Penick and Leo Ray Clark. Fred graduated from Dallas High School in 1944. He entered the U. S. Army the following week. He served in the Pacific Theater in WW II and later served stateside during the Korean Conflict. Between stints in the military, Fred was introduced to Marjorie Agan of Columbia by her cousin, who was also Fred's brother-in-law. He was one of three children born to Mildred Virginia Penick and Leo Ray Clark. Fred graduated from Dallas High School in 1944. He entered the U. S. Army the following week. He served in the Pacific Theater in WW II and later served stateside during the Korean Conflict. Between stints in the military, Fred was introduced to Marjorie Agan of Columbia by her cousin, who was also Fred's brother-in-law. Fifteen months later they were married in an Aug. 16, 1948, ceremony at Pleasantville. To this union two sons were born, Gordon and Scott. Fred and Marjorie moved to a farm near Columbia in 1952. They raised cattle, hogs and crops for the next 31 years. Fred most enjoyed breaking and training the horses he used to manage the cattle. Boyhood memories of pumping water for a herd of sheep kept him from ever starting his own herd. After moving to Knoxville in 1983, Fred continued to farm some row crops. He found enough free time to also drive a school bus for the Knoxville School District. He enjoyed many trips to ball games, concerts and contests. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters and their spouses, Margaret and Corwin Sage of Knoxville and Dorothy and Robert Joliffe of Omaha, Neb. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; two sons and their wives, Gordon and Molly Clark of Winterset and Scott and Andres Clark of Centerville; four grandchildren, Cari Hannon and her husband, Michael of Pleasant Hill, Tom Clark and his wife, Sarah of Grimes, Lindsey Clark and Brianne Clark of Cedar Falls, and great-grandson Tyler Hannon of Pleasant Hill.
