Description	:	Coon Rapids Enterprise January 2, 1959 Fred French, 94, a resident of this community, died at his home here Dec. 25 after being bedfast for only 10 days. Funeral services were held from the Anderson Funeral Home Saturday the 28th, in charge of the Rev. Morris I. Bailey. Sam Cretsinger sang "No Night There" and "Sweet Bye and Bye" with Mrs. Russell Newcomm playing the organ accompaniment. Faith Chapter No. 308 had charge of the Eastern Star service. Fred French was born June 17, 1864 In Chicago where his father was In the dairy business. As a boy he helped his deliver milk to the people living near the present location of the Chicago stockyards. In 1877 at the age of 14, he moved with his parents to Greene county Iowa where his father had purchased land a mile east of the present Trinity Lutheran church. There he grew to manhood. On August 31, 1890, French was united In marriage to Nettie Mildred Bowman, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bowman They lived on a farm just across the road from the Lutheran church for years when they moved to Perry where he was a buttermaker in a creamery for 2 years. Early in the year 1902 he purchased a farm four miles north of Coon Rapids and two years later moved to the farm which continued to be the home for the next 30 years. Mr. and Mrs French moved to Coon Rapids in the fall of 1934. He was preceded tn death by his parents, and two sisters, Anna in Chicago and Mary in Colorado. Mr. French is survived by his wife and three sisters, Ella, of Coon Rapids, Etta and Jessie French Norton, both of Armour, South Dakota, and other relatives and friends in this community
