The couple had observed their 65th wedding anniversary May 20. The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, 100 E. George St., York New Salem. Mr. Gingerich was born on Nov. 15, 1908, in York New Salem. He was the son of the late John and Jennie (Gladfelter) Gingerich. He was employed over 15 years as a watchman with the P.H. Glatfelter Paper Co., Spring Grove, retiring in 1974. Previously, he was employed at the then United Wallpaper Co., York, for many years. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he had served in Panama. He was a member of St. Jacob's United Church of Christ. He had played third base with the then York New Salem Baseball Club, and had been a clarinet player with the then York New Salem Band. Mr. Gingerich also is survived by two sons, Donald W. Gingerich of Spring Grove RD 5, and Jack B. Gingerich of Spring Grove; four daughters, Loretta J. Heindel and Carole E. Lightner, both of York RD 10, Yvonne M. Riley of Spring Grove, and Patti A. Smeltz of York; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Grace E. White of Atlanta, Ga., and Helen ""Doll'' Bechtel of Shrewsbury. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Curtis E. Whitman.
