Description	:	Fred K. Hirning, 87, of Billings, passed away Tuesday evening, Sept. 24, 1996, at the Glendeen Care Center. He was born Feb. 16, 1901, in Burt, N.D., the son of Fred and Caroline (Geigle) Hirning He was raised and attended school in North Dakota and farmed there prior to coming to Billings in the late '30s. He was born Feb. 16, 1901, in Burt, N.D., the son of Fred and Caroline (Geigle) Hirning He was raised and attended school in North Dakota and farmed there prior to coming to Billings in the late '30s. On June 14, 1942, he married Rosa (Rose) P. Hoffman in Laurel. Fred retired from Beall Tank after 28 years and then worked for Ramsey Construction for four years, retiring again at age 72. Fred enjoyed gardening, yard work, bowling, visiting with friends and family, was a great family man and enjoyed his grandchildren. He attended Evangelical Church of North America and was a member of the Boiler Makers Union Local No, 599 where he served as secretary-treasurer for 13 years. Survivors include his wife, Rose, sons, Michael Hirning and wife, Donna of Laurel, and David Hirning of Billings; daughters, Wilma Alexander and husband Roy of Billings, and Carol Saylor and husband Dick of York, Pa,; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and brother, Ted Hirning and wife, Milda of Mott, N.D. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
