Bomar Fred Bomar was born April 6, 1926 in Sioux City, Iowa to John C. and Viola (McFarland) Bomar and was educated at Niobrara High School. He married Meldean Viergutz at Marysville, Kansas on April 20, 1946. After their marriage, he was employed with Kollman and Werner and ran businesses in Norfolk and Pierce. He worked for Anderson Brothers Plumbing and Heating out of Kearney, for 35 years. After retiring, he worked part time at Willow Creek State Park near Pierce. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce. Mr. Bomard died Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Survivors include his wife, Meldean Bomar of Pierce; five daughters, Rita & Mary Wragge, Dorothy Freudenburg, Susan Hoffman and Lorie Sullivan ; two sons, John and Melvin; son-in-law, Alvin Synovec; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Beverly, two grandchildren; one son-in-law; and three brothers. Visitation was from 4 - 8 pm, Friday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce. Services for Fred L. Bomar, 79, of Pierce were held at 10 am. Saturday January 28, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce with Rev. Gordon Bruce officiating. Interment was at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. Dottie Ahlers was organist and soloist Rick Higgins sang "On Eagles Wings". Congregational hymns included "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Bearers were David Synovec, Jeff Wragge, Brian Bomar, Brad Freudenburg, Scott Bomar, Jesse Wragge, Steve Hoffman and Nicholas Kuether. Honorary bearers were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
