Cook, 66, 821 South Ninth street, former city councilman, died at 4:30 Saturday morning at his home from the effects of a heart- attack suffered Friday morning. His brother, John Cook, Norfolk, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Feb. 15. Mr. Cook suffered a heart attack about a year ago. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Home for Funerals, where the body will lie in state Saturday evening. The family announced it arranged funeral services for Sunday for the convenience of Mr. Cook's many friends. Mr. Cook was born Dec. 25, 1884, at Tilden, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac T. Cook. In 1891, he moved to Norfolk with his parents, where he did contract teaming with his father in the firm of L. T. Cook and Sons. He later was employed by the L. C. Mittelsteadt Lumber company until 1909, when he went to work for the Chicago Lumber company. He was yard foreman for that company for 34 years. In 1943, he and his brother, Elmer, purchased the Shaffer Exchange, and operated it as Cook's Exhange when Fred sold his interest to his brother. From that time until his death, he was engaged in the glass business. He was widely known in northeast Nebraska as an expert in installing plate glass business fronts. He had been an active member of the Park Avenue Church of Christ since 1912. He was a past noble grand of the Odd Fellows lodge, of which he was a member 42 years. He was maried (sic) in 1912 to Miss Nettie Mae Flint, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Flint, Norfolk, and to them four daughters were born. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Paul Fulton, Mrs. Chester Thorp, and Mrs. William Beck; one brother, Elmer A., five grandchildren, all of Norfolk, and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mildred Josephine, who died in infancy; two brothers, James and John; a sister, Mrs. Grace Duncan, and his parents.
