Wutzke, of Lethbridge, was born April 10, 1929 and passed away with his family near his side on Wednesday, September 5, 2007. Fritz, as he was known to many of his friends and family, is survived by his wife of 55 years, Flora (nee Walker), and their children Terry (Alice) Wutzke of Santa Maria, California, Kelly (Terra) Wutzke of Burley, Idaho, Darren (Sue) Wutzke of Newtown, Connecticut, and Ruthanne Wutzke (David Fudge) of Calgary; grandchildren Casey (Mike) Spence, Aric, Brett (Melissa), Cammon (Nikki), Carid, Cabra (Jeremy) Poulton, Lauren, Jana, Nathan, Hannah Coutts; sister Florence Conway; sister-in-law Madeline (Johnson-Wutzke) Smith; brothers-in-law Eldon Litchfield and Robert (Jeanne) Walker; and many nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents Ferdinand and Edna; brother John; sister-in-law Marie Litchfield; brother-in-law Albert Conway; and grandson Alban. Fritz was raised and farmed in the Skiff area until he retired at the age of 62. In 1952, Fritz married Flora Walker in Grassy Lake, Alberta. Like so many farmers, he was a man who could accomplish anything necessary to get the job done. He was part farmer, part electrician, part plumber, carpenter and mechanic, but it might be said that he enjoyed most his role of part-time cook. Fred taught his children the value of hard work and education. He was extremely proud of his wife and family and enjoyed bragging about them to anyone who would take the time to listen. Fred was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and through his life and especially his retirement years spent his time in service to others. Fritz and Flora served a mission for the LDS church in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1989. They later served in the Cardston, Alberta Temple for 5 years, and Fred worked side-by-side with his wife to provide weekly lunches to the Institute college students for the past 7 years. Fred loved woodworking and making items for his friends and family. He also loved gardening and took a great deal of pride in his flower garden. He didn't hesitate to help his neighbours and friends with their planting and watering. He was extremely thoughtful and giving and is a wonderful example to all. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lethbridge Stake Centre, 2410 - 28 Street South, Lethbridge on Friday, September 7, 2007 from 7:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and prior to the service in the Relief Society Room of the Church from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lethbridge Stake Centre, Lethbridge on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with President Gord Gedlaman conducting. Burial to follow at Archmount Cemetery, Lethbridge.
