Mr. Monahan, 87, died on Tuesday morning, April 13, and his wife, 78, died on Wednesday morning, April 14, both at the Greene County Medical Center, Jefferson. Mr. and Mrs. Monahan are survived by two sons, Eugene and Raymond, both of Churdan; four daughter, Mrs. Fred (Grace) Beschorner, Mrs. Philip (Rosemary) Minnehan, and Mrs. Sam (Dorothy) Higgins, all of Churdan, and Mrs. William (Genevieve) Ganley of Des Moines; 34 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Preceding the couple in death were a son, Michael, in 1975; a daughter, Marcella in childhood; and a grandson, Patrick Monahan. Mr. and Mrs. Monahan were married on February 16, 1920. Mr. Monahan was born on June 7, 1888, near Churdan, a son of James and Agnes Seery Monahan. He attended rural school in this area. After marriage he farmed in the Lohrville and Churdan area until retiring in about 1960, when the couple moved to their home in Churdan. Mr. Monahan also is survived by two brothers, Charles Monahan of Churdan and Sylvester Monahan of Des Moines; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Mackey and Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Hadden of Churdan, and Mrs. Katherine Boner of Lohrville.
