However, his obituary stated that he died “Sunday,” which would have been June 8 in 1941. His funeral notice also showed that he died Sunday, and he was to be buried Friday, which was June 13 in 1941. That death record also gave his wife’s maiden name as Mary Cramer. Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” June 10, 1941: Fred Manro, 67, former resident of Wapello county, died suddenly Sunday at his home at Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Manro was born on a farm near Ottumwa, now occupied by his sister, Mrs. J.A. Dickel. He was a resident of Wapello county most of his life, having farmed a mile north of Eldon for several years. In recent years, he had been in the insurance business. Surviving are his wife, Mary, and two sisters, Mrs. R.E. Swanson, Chugwater, Wyo., and Mrs. J.A. Dickel, route 6, Ottumwa. The body will arrive late today, and will be taken to the Lester Jay funeral home. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed. Funeral Notice From “Ottumwa Courier,” June 11, 1941: Private funeral services for Fred Manro, who died Sunday in Toledo, Ohio, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lester Jay funeral home here. The Rev. Harold Lancaster, D.D. will be in charge. Burial will be made in the Ashland cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harold Warren, Elmer Stewart, Raymond Warren, Gordon Freshour, Harry Creamer and Harold Hite.
