Well Known Early Settler in This County Passes Away Saturday. Fred Raber, 80, well known farmer in Plymouth county for many years, died Saturday in the home of his son, Royden Raber, at Carthage, S.D. Of late he had made his home with relatives in the Carthage vicinity but was a frequent visitor in his old neighborhood around Le Mars and Remsen. Mr. Raber was an uncle of Fred. G. Eichhorn. Frederick Raber was born November 3, 1862, at Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. When a lad of fourteen years, he came to Iowa to make his home with a sister, Mrs. John Eichhorn, at Iowa City. Later the family moved to Plymouth county and settled on a farm near Remsen. Mr. Raber was married to Barbara Reiser, March 5, 1884, and seven children were born to their union. Mrs. Raber died in November, 1899. He was married to Alice Sampson and six children were born to them. Mrs. Sampson passed away in June, 1935. After the death of his wife he made his home with his children.
