DONAHOO Came with his parents to Edgar from their farm in Nuckolls county (sic) when a lad of seven years and spent his boyhood days in Edgar with the exception of two years which he spent with his grandfather in Wheeling, West Va. Fred was a congenial boy and had the friendship and love of all who knew him and is fondly remembered by the old schoolmates and friends, only a few of whom still remain in Edgar. Dr. Ralph Casterline, Willet Ong and Mrs. Millie Beal are the only ones of his immediate boyhood friends still here. Since the age of 21, his life has been mostly spent in other parts. He spent five years in Denver, six of eight in the railroad offices in Chicago and was in government employ in the Panama country during five years of the construction of the canal. Perhaps the very dearest friends he had were those of the Panama acquaintance and a few in Chicago. Seven years ago Fred made his last visit to his boyhood home at the time of the death and burial of his father, James T. Donahoo. After a lingering illness he passed from this life on Tuesday, October 5, 1920, in a Lincoln hospital. His remains were accompanied to Edgar the next day by his sister, Mrs. Taylor of Omaha, who with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mudrow and a few friends laid the tired body to rest beside that of his father. Fred's mother, Mrs. Lina Frater Donahoo, died when he was a little boy and only his three sisters, Mrs. Mudrom, Mrs. Taylor and Miss Grace Donahoo, with Dr. Ruth M. Wood, his father's only living sister, and a number of cousins and uncles, remain to remember him with tender love. - Edgar Post.
