Description	:	Freda (Huebert) Epp, was born on June 4, 1915 at the family farm in rural Hamilton County to Peter E. and Marie (Pankratz) Huebert. Freda passed away Jan. 21, 2012, at the age of 96 years at the Henderson Care Center. Upon her confession of faith, she was baptized on May 28, 1939, by Reverend A.W. Read More	Freda (Huebert) Epp, was born on June 4, 1915 at the family farm in rural Hamilton County to Peter E. and Marie (Pankratz) Huebert. Freda passed away Jan. 21, 2012, at the age of 96 years at the Henderson Care Center. Upon her confession of faith, she was baptized on May 28, 1939, by Reverend A.W. Friesen and became a life-long member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church. On July 12, 1945, Freda married Ruben K. Epp in Winnebago, Wis. They were together 59 years during which they adopted and raised two children, Doran and Rhonda. Freda attended county school in Hamilton County and graduated from Henderson High School in 1932. Freda attended York College and Bethel College where she obtained a teaching certificate, allowing her to teach at several country schools near Henderson. Freda also taught in Shelton. Freda and Ruben moved back to Henderson in 1954 at which time they built their home. She retired from teaching to raise her children, and also helped in the kitchen at the school to be close to her kids. After Ruben passed away in 2004, she continued to live at home until 2007. Freda was an active member of the Henderson Garden Club and spent a great deal of time tending to her flowers and garden. She enjoyed being a homemaker, she loved to bake and cook. Freda took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spoiling them with homemade baked goods including making them their favorite pies. Freda also enjoyed the company of her dear friends; playing pinochle was one of her favorite past times. Freda prided herself on being an educator and this was reflected in her discussions with her grandchildren. She enjoyed discussing world views and future plans with her grandchildren. Freda was a nurturer; the sound of her voice and the touch of her hand were very comforting as she would sing her children and grandchildren nursery rhymes as they would fall asleep. Freda made daily trips to the farm with Ruben, and always made sure he had a good homemade meal prepared for him. She loved him dearly, and kept a box of letters he wrote to her when he was serving in Civilian Public Service at her bedside. Freda will be greatly missed by: children, Doran Epp of Henderson and Rhonda Epp of Hillsboro, Kan.; grandchildren, Craig Epp, Kiley (Ryan) Escamilla, Kimberly Epp, Scott Neufeld, Kevin Neufeld, Laura (Dustin) Hendricks and Amy Neufeld; great-grandchildren, Kristin Neufeld and Quentin Escamilla. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Louise Huebert, Dorothy Van Dyck, Nadine (Roland) Epp and Dorothy (Abel) Epp; brother-in-law, Alfred (Vera) Epp; nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, Ruben K. Epp; parents, Peter E. and Marie Huebert; step-father, Frank Dick; brother, Reinhold (Pete) Huebert; half-brother, Harry Van Dyck; step-brothers, August and Fred Dick; sister, Gladys Friesen; and step-sister, Anna Anslinger.
