Freda was born in rural Central City, Iowa on 28 August 1931, to Julian Lester and Bessie (Moyer) Covington. Read More	Parents; Julian Covington--Bessie Moyer∼Freda Mable (Covington) DeLarm, 88, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away early Thursday, 19 March 2020, at the Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa, Iowa. Freda was born in rural Central City, Iowa on 28 August 1931, to Julian Lester and Bessie (Moyer) Covington. She attended country school in Langworthy and graduated from Iowa's Monticello High School. On 25 March 1951, Freda married Gerald "Jerry" DeLarm in Monticello. Freda's first job was at a Monticello dime store, then she worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids and, later, in Anamosa. She and Jerry also farmed in Langworthy, then in Monmouth until July 2018, when they moved to Maquoketa. Freda was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Monmouth. She was a very easy going and loving person. She loved her family and going bowling, dancing, roller skating, flowers, gardening, birds, animals, camping, and fishing. She also enjoyed socializing and she and Jerry had camped and traveled all over the United States with friends and family for thirty years. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jerry DeLarm, of Maquoketa; children, Gary (Pam) DeLarm, of Maquoketa, Dale DeLarm, of Delmar, Iowa and Kathleen (John) Martin, of Bernard, Iowa; stepson, Brad (Janet) Petersen, of North Liberty, Iowa; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Eldon (and special friend, Sylvia) Covington, of Anamosa and Belva Covington, of Monticello; plus several nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, Freda was predeceased by her siblings, Galen Covington, Hilda Covington, Lawrence Covington, Margaret Covington, and Wilma Covington; daughter-in-law, Marjorie DeLarm; and great-grandson, Tyler. - PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES - Visitation at the Carson Celebration of Life Center Funeral Home, Maquoketa Graveside Celebration DATE: Wednesday, 25 March 2020 PLACE: Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello * SPECIAL NOTICE * Due to the present COVID-19 pandemic, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds issued a State of Public Health Disaster which includes the cancellation or postponement of all mass gatherings of more than ten people until after termination of this disaster, those wishing to express their condolences may leave messages online at www.carsonandson.com or contact the family remotely.
