Description	:	Freda P. Shaffer Miller, 84, of Normalville (Millertown), died Sunday, March 20, 2016, in Eicher's Family Home, Normalville. She was born May 1, 1931, in Acme, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ida Kalp Brown. Freda was a member of Millertown Community Church, where she was a teacher of the nursery class and leader of the Awana Cubbies for many years. Freda loved to cook, be it for her family or church functions. Her family meant much to her. Shaffer Miller, 84, of Normalville (Millertown), died Sunday, March 20, 2016, in Eicher's Family Home, Normalville. She was born May 1, 1931, in Acme, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ida Kalp Brown. Freda was a member of Millertown Community Church, where she was a teacher of the nursery class and leader of the Awana Cubbies for many years. Freda loved to cook, be it for her family or church functions. Her family meant much to her. She loved to paint things for the grandkids, and she helped with the weddings done with the horse and buggy. Going to the cabin was a time of relaxation for her. Freda previously worked for Millstein Industries in Youngwood and Jeannette and also with Westmoreland Human Opportunities and as a house mother at Threshold. She served on the membership committee at the Youngwood Park and Pool. Most of all, she loved her Lord, and is now safe in the arms of Jesus. She is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Miller Jr.; her children, Jay Shaffer and his wife, Debbie, of Mt. Pleasant, Gil Shaffer and his wife, Kirsten, of Scottdale, Karen Shawley and her husband, Earl, of Kylertown, Lois Barkley and her husband, Robin, of Indian Head, and Joseph R. Miller III, of Indian Head; her grandchildren, Josh Shaffer (Hannah), Dustin Shaffer (Jamie), Allison Shaffer, Grant Shaffer (Abbey), Korin Shaffer, Gary Miller (Mary Lou), Matthew Miller (Carri), Stephen Miller, Rachel Smith (Jay), Rebecca Hauser (Chris), Micah Shawley and Kayla Naugle (Travis); her great-grandchildren, Laura Miller, Brooke Miller, Sadie Miller, Erika Miller, Lena Miller, Matthew Miller Jr., Arabelle Shaffer, Evelyn Shaffer, Amelia Smith and Alicia Smith; a sister, Hazel Wiltrout and her husband, Gerald, of White; and a brother, Frank Brown and his wife, Marlene, of Acme. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Jack E. Shaffer; a grandson, Jason Barkley; a son-in-law, Gary Miller Sr.; and her brothers, Otha Filmore, Clyde, Herbert, Vernon and Donald Brown. Friends will be received from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., corner of Municipal Building Road and Route 711, Melcroft, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Robert Degg officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery. Should one desire, contributions may be made to Millertown Community Church in memory of Freda P. Shaffer Miller.
