Description	:	Frederick Charles Redman died in Stettler hospital on May 29 after a lengthy illness. He was 70 years of age. Born at Oconto, Wisconsin on May 14, 1886, he grew to manhood and commenced farming in Wisconsin. In 1909 he moved to Texas where he farmed for two years. He was united in marriage with Edith Champlin in 1910, and the next year they came to Canada, when they settled in Great Bend district in 1911. He was 70 years of age. Born at Oconto, Wisconsin on May 14, 1886, he grew to manhood and commenced farming in Wisconsin. In 1909 he moved to Texas where he farmed for two years. He was united in marriage with Edith Champlin in 1910, and the next year they came to Canada, when they settled in Great Bend district in 1911. Here he farmed until poor health forced his retirement in 1955. Mr. Redman served on the Great Bend school board for 11 years, and always took an active interest in all the community activities. His passing breaks another link with the pioneer days of Alberta and this district. Surviving is his wife, Edith, at home; one daughter, Lillian (Mrs. Fred Volker, and one son (Leslie), all of Delburne. There is also one grand daughter (Mrs. Lee Norris) and one great granddaughter (Judy) in Calgary; and one sister, Mrs. Hatty Faulkner of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held in Great Bend community hall, Friday, June 1 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Stuart Munro officiating. Pallbearers were: Stewart Bonham, Francis Grover, Philip Gongaware, Robert Williams, Albert Fox and Don Lampert. Interment was in Great Bend cemetery. The Times, Delburne, Alta., Thurs., May 24, 1956 and June 14, 1956(ourfutureourpast.ca newspaper collection in the public domain) LDS records show that Fred's parents were Charles Rottman (1848-1941) and Mary Blanch Hotham (1860-1914). Charles and Mary are shown to have had 15 children, some of who used the last name of Fox (paternal grandfather was Michael Fox), and Fred used the last name of Redman.
