Frederick Clark 83 year old farmer was found dead in a stock well near his home on Ottumwa Route 7, a mile south of Miller Chapel about 5 p.m. Tuesday after he had been missing since early morning. The body was found by Clark's son Ira Clark who also lives on Ottumwa Route 7. Coroner John Drake today specified death as accidental and declared no inquest would be held. Members of the family said Clark had been in good health and had been working daily. He left the house about 7 a.m. Tuesday and when he didn't return for dinner at noon his wife became alarmed and sought help in searching for him. The search continued throughout the afternoon. The well is 20 feet deep and had about 14 feet of water in it. There was no pump and the top was covered only by some loose boards. It is believed that Clark was working about the well, had uncovered the top and fell in. Surviving Clark are his wife, Mrs. Nancy Clark, 2 sons H. C. Clark and Ira Clark both of Ottumwa Route 7. 5 bro. Samuel of Tulsa, OK, G.W. Clark, O. N. Clark, Douglas Clark & David Clark all of Floris, 2 sis, Mrs. Harriet McIntosh & Mrs. Emma Hart both of Floris. The body was removed to the Johnson Funeral chapel here last night. Services will be held at the chapel at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. E.C. Beech pastor of First Christian Church of Ottumwa will officiate.
