In the book "Chronicles of Pitt County" on page 510 family submitted bios for all the children of Lewis and Elizabeth. Frederick was stated to never married, he volunteered in 1862 for three years to serve in the Confederate Army, he served in Company I, in the 44th Infantry NC State Troops, on the 3rd of Nov in 1862 he was admitted to the Episcopal Church Hospital in Williamsburg VA with Typhoid fever where he died on 17 Nov 1862.
