Description	:	LEE PIONEER DIES SATURDAY IN CHARLESTON Frederick Reuther, 91, one of the earliest residents of Lee county who came here from Germany 67 years ago, died Saturday night at 9.30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. Read More	LEE PIONEER DIES SATURDAY IN CHARLESTON Frederick Reuther, 91, one of the earliest residents of Lee county who came here from Germany 67 years ago, died Saturday night at 9.30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. E. Lamb, at Charleston. He had been ill since last February. This illness and his advanced age, resulted in his death. Mr. Reuther was born in Oberielboldabarg, Byren, Germany on August 20, 1843. He came to America when a young man in 1866 and has been a resident of Lee county since that time. He was married to Barbara Hoffman in June 1866 and to this union 14 children were born. For several years after their marriage they resided in Franklin, moving from there to the farm near Charleston which was their home until the death of Mrs. Reuther on April 2, 1925. Since then, Mr. Reuther has made his home with his children, having spent the last five years with Mrs. Lamb. Surviving him are 11 children, Mrs. Fred Heiser of Charleston; Ed Reuther, Montrose; Mrs. Henry Krichel, Keokuk; John Reuther, New Boston; Mrs. William Rokey, Keokuk; Fred Reuther, Jr Keokuk; Mrs. J. E. Lamb, Montrose; Henry Reuther, Montrose; Mrs. Sherman Hart, Keokuk; Jacob Reuther, Seattle, Washington; Martin Reuther, Fort Madison; one brother, Andrew Reuther, Syracuse, Neb.; twenty-nine grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Two sons and one daughter preceded him in death. He was a member of the Evangelical church of Charleston and for a number of years held the position of Sunday school superintendent. Funeral services will be held at Charleston, Iowa, Tuesday, December 18 at community church at at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Charleston Cemetery.
