| Description | : | Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette Wednesday October 11, 1916 Frederick Motbohm[sic], who was one of the oldest citizens of Linn county, died Tuesday at his home two miles north of LaFayette. Mr. Mothbohm was born in Hanover, German, April 13, 1820, being thus, well towards the century mark. He came to this country in 1848, on the same vessel with his future wife Doretta Schilker. They were married June 10, 1850, in Chicago, and came on to the present homestead in 1854, taking up the land from the government.
