Holstein was born on January 26, 1893, in Kramer, Nebraska, to Frederick and Hanna Holstein. He was baptized and confirmed in Kramer, Nebraska. On December 25, 1920, he married Magdalena (Lena) Plamp in her parents' home in Douglas County. They were blessed with two sons, Roland and Francis. He farmed in the Blooming Valley area until they retired and moved to Corsica. Fred became a resident of the Pleasant View Nursing Home on February 13, 1981. He resided in the nursing home until his death on January 10, 1987. He leaves to mourn his daughter-in-law, Grace; his grandson, David; granddaughter, Natalie; great grandson, Joshua; and relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalena; sons, Roland and Francis; grandson, Charles; mother, Hanna; father, Frederick; sister, Lena; brothers, Gus, Carl and Bill. * contributed by Travis Bolt
