Description	:	Fredrich Carl Fiedler, 74, rural Springfield, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at his home, under hospice care, of cancer. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent Catholic Church, Springfield. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home, Springfield, followed by a 7 p.m. wake at the church. He was born on June 26, 1936 in Yankton to Carl August and Darlene (Vaughn) Fiedler. He grew up in the Yankton area and attended Yankton schools. He earned his GED certificate in welding and also received certificates in basic electronics at South Dakota VoTech, Springfield, and attended several management courses at Yankton College. He served in National Guard and received an honorable discharge on July 5, 1959. He also worked as a cook's helper for three years and was honorably discharged from the Army Reserve on July 31, 1962. On March 21, 1956, he married Doris Parisien, at St. Louis Parish in Dunseith, N.D. They lived in Yankton and moved to Springfield in 1976. He worked at Gurney's, Health and Human Services, Freeman Company for nine years and Kolberg-Pioneer for three years. He also worked for Dale Electronics for 25 years as a tool and die maker and supervisor of the machine shop. He retired in 1993. He then returned to work part-time as a cook at Carmichael's Café in Springfield and later worked for Libby's Steak House as a salad chef. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church since 1982. He also was a lifetime member of National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited. He is survived by his wife, five children: Fredrick, Kevin and wife Kathy, all of Springfield; Karen Allen and husband Greg, Bemidji, Minn.; Corrine Johnson and husband Gary, Watertown; and Kathleen Haines and husband James, Volin; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, five brothers: Bob, Buena Park, Calif.; Jim and wife Cindy, Sioux Falls; David, Irene; Tom and wife Cheryl, Yankton; and Steve and wife Debbie, South Carolina; three sisters: Bonnie Lemley and husband Ken, Spartanburg, S.C.; Martha Tripp and husband Al, Utica; and Karla Schiller and husband Ken, Sunland, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Mary Theresa; a son, Marc Karl; a grandson, an infant sister, Karen; and a brother, Terry.
