Description	:	Fred William Schacht of Cook died in the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh Thursday morning, January 15, 1970, at the age of 93 years, eight months and 10 days. He had been in failing health for the past 10 months. He was born May 5, 1876, at Berger, Mo. His parents were Henry and Charlotte (Stoppleman) Schacht. He was baptized July 9, 1876, by Rev. Read More	Fred William Schacht of Cook died in the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh Thursday morning, January 15, 1970, at the age of 93 years, eight months and 10 days. He had been in failing health for the past 10 months. He was born May 5, 1876, at Berger, Mo. His parents were Henry and Charlotte (Stoppleman) Schacht. He was baptized July 9, 1876, by Rev. Hotz in Berger. When he was seven years old he came to Nebraska with his parents, where they settled in the Osage community near Cook. He received his education in an Osage public school. He was confirmed bv Rev. G. Von Luternau April 10, 1892. His marriage to Christina Damme took place March 14. 1900, with Rev. Von Luternau performing the ceremony. They lived on various farms in the Cook community until 1946 when they moved to Cook. After Mrs. Schacht died in July of 1964 he made his home with the Ervin Reuter family, Mrs. Reuter being his daughter. On May 22, 1969, he entered the Maple Grove Care Home, southwest of Tecumseh. Mr. Schacht was a member of the Osage Church board since 1883. He served as a member of the school board and was precinct assessor for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, August and Paul; six brothers, Louis, Herman, John, Henry, Edward and Ernest Schacht; three sisters, Minnie Bentzinger, Charlotte Doermann and Hannah Holtgrewe; and two infant grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Arthur of Humboldt, Elmer of Tecumseh and LeRoy of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Amanda) Arent of Lincoln and Mrs. Ervin (Emma) Reuter of Cook; a brother, William Schacht of Cook; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Osage, with Rev. Clyde Justus officiating. Pallbearers were John Damme, Edwin Naber, Fred Weber, Marvin Schacht, Albert Schacht and Norman Wellsandt. Interment was in the Osage Cemetery.
