Olin Belt officiating. Pallbearers were Gary Salmon, Bennett Salmon, Duane Bonge, James Salmon, Robert Bonge and Earl Tramp. Masonic services by Wausa Lodge #251 were held Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton. Fredrick William Salmon was born March 20, 1889 at Bloomington, Ill. to Dietrich and Wilhelmine (Weymeyer) Salmon. He died Monday, June 21, 1982 at the Lundberg Memorial Hospital in Creighton at the age of 93 years, three months and one day. Bill's father died in 1891. His mother married Jacob Bonge in 1898 when they moved to a farm near Creighton along with Bill's brother and sister, Fritz and Mattie. After his brother, Fritz was married in 1907, they formed a partnership and farmed near Creighton for five years. After farming near Verdel for two years, the brothers, in 1914, started a well drilling business at Concord. The business was known as Salmon Brothers. He operated a branch office in Wausa where he lived from 1926 until 1935 when Bill joined his nephews in business at Wakefield. The business name was changed to the Salmon Well Company. Bill made his home in Wakefield until 1959 when he moved to Creighton, where he lived until his death. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #251 of Wausa for more than 50 years. He is survived by his half sister, Lela Murphy of Omaha and a half brother, Albert Bonge of Creighton; 14 nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
