Read More	Monday, August 4, 1919 - Sioux City Journal, Sioux City, Iowa, page 1 FATALLY INJURED ON RIVERSIDE CAR Freeman Brouillette Suffers Fractured Skull Dies In Fifteen Minutes Knocked from Running Board by a West Third Street Car - Never Regains Consciousness - Brother Was With Him Caught between two street cars, Freeman Brouillette, 22 years old, was fatally injured at 10:10 o'clock last night, on West Third Street, between Bluff and Perry streets. Brouillette, riding on the footboard of an inbound Riverside car, was struck on the head by the front end of a West Third car as the two cars flashed by each other. His skull was fractured at the base of the brain and he died fifteen minutes later at St. Vincent's hospital, where he was taken by Will J. Armour, 1905 Riverside boulevard. Armour was driving past the spot just as the accident occured. Four companions of the dead man asserted late last night that no warning signal had been sounded by the motorman on either car. Many Riding on the Footboard The car on which Brouillette was a passenger, an open car, was crowded with passengers coming from the park. Many were riding on the footboards, including Brouillette, being on the north side of the car. None could obtain seats. His companions were William L. Brouillette, his brother.... As the two cars passed each other, Freeman Brouillette, standing between his brother and P. J. Cabana, swayed, turned slightly to one side and fell to the ground as the West Third car cleared the other. He alighted on his face, blood streaming from the back of his head. The streetcar was quickly brought to a stop and the injured man lifted into Armour's automobile, which was driven at high speed to the hospital. The fracture, a deep wound, caused profuse hemmorhages and Brouillette quickly lapsed into a coma, succeeded by death a few minutes after reaching to hospital. Here Only Two Weeks Brouillette, who came here from Sheridan, Wyo., two weeks ago to work with his brother William as a carpenter roomed at 221 Sixth street. He is survived by six brothers and three sisters. His father and mother are dead. The brothers are William, with him when the accident occured: Peter, E.J. and Andrew Brouillette, farmers living twelve miles north of the city: Harry, Chinook, Mont. and Edward, of Divide, Sask, Can. His sisters are Mrs. Leah Jolin, 109 Center street: Mrs Josie B. Rhodes, Sheridan, Wyo., and Mrs. Anna Hartman, Los Angeles, Cal. The body was taken in charge by Coroner W.F. Dickinson. No date has yet been set for an inquest.
