She was baptized into the Lutheran faith October 17, 1880. She received her education in the schools there. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in April of 1895, in Conow, Germany. Read More	Postville Herald, Wednesday, November 24, 1965 Rites Held For Frieda Wolter Frieda Wilhelmina Mina Wolter, daughter of John and Mina Wilke, was born October 5, 1880, in Heiddorf, Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith October 17, 1880. She received her education in the schools there. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in April of 1895, in Conow, Germany. When she was 18 years of age, in 1898, she came to this country. She worked in and around Postville until March 21, 1901, when she was married to Henry Wolter at the home of her uncle, John Schultz. Mr. Wolter had come over at the same time as she did. The couple settled on a farm near Postville, in Allamakee county, for nine years; then moved by the creamery near Luana, until they retired to Luana in 1943. When she was married, she brought her mother from Germany to stay with the couple, and she lived with them for seven years. Mrs. Wolter lived in Luana until the death of her husband in 1958, when she went to live with her daughter, Mrs . Leonard Oldag, in Postville. She was taken to Postville Community Hospital about two weeks ago; she was there for some time, then was moved to Prairie du Chien Convalescent Home. She passed away of pneumonia in Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, November 16, 1965. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, and a member of the Ladies' Aid, now Women of the Church, for over 50 years. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Mrs. Oldag, Postville; two sons, Arthur and George, Luana; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Henry, her husband, one son Fred in infancy, and one grandchild preceded her in death. She attained the age of 85 years, one month and 11 days. She was laid to rest in Postville cemetery. Rites Friday. Funeral services were conducted from St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, Friday morning, November 19, with Rev. Luther A. Meyer, officiating.
