Frieda was born on May 14, 1911 in Blue Hill, Nebraska to Albert Krueger and Alvina (Summerfeld) Krueger. She was baptized June 25, 1911 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill by Pastor Louis Ernest and was confirmed by Pastor Otto Hoyer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. On June 5, 1938, Frieda was joined in marriage to Oscar Beal by Pastor Walter Wilk at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst. They had three children, James, Linda and Calvin Randall. They farmed in Amherst until they retired. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and actively supported the Ladies Aid and Good Shepherd Home Auxiliary. Frieda learned to sew along side her mother as they prepared clothes for the family. She was an accomplished seamstress that required perfection from the stylish wool suits she designed to the patches she lovingly applied to her grandkidsâ€™ jeans. Frieda and Esther Schauland organized the "Stitch In Time" 4-H Sewing Club. Frieda appreciated fine arts and made an effort to have her family experience them as they grew up going to concerts in Sterling. She supported the Holyoke Arts Council when they developed the concert series in Holyoke. She enjoyed painting with oil and watercolor paints. Frieda was a member of The Holyoke Art Guild. Five of her pictures were the "Purchase Award" at art shows. She truly enjoyed the friendships that developed as part of the Holyoke Art Guild. Many of her paintings revealed her love of gardening and the beauty of the flowers she grew. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Oscar; sisters Evaline Butterfiled and Lenora Pfeifer; and brothers Alvin Krueger and Erwin Krueger. Frieda Anna Beal is survived by her children, Jim Beal and his wife Lenore of Allenspark, Linda Cox and her husband Gene of LaJunta and Randy Beal and his wife Ellie of Amherst; sisters, Rosette Brinkman, Irma Gruenwald, Gertrude Powell and her husband Frank, all of Denver; brother Albert Krueger and his wife Beverly of Huntington Beach, California; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 14 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst with Rev. George Hesse officiating. Internment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Son Willard L.
