She was born June 22, 1922, near Knoxville, the daughter of Peter and Henrietta Groenenboom Wouda. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1941. She was born June 22, 1922, near Knoxville, the daughter of Peter and Henrietta Groenenboom Wouda. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1941. Frieda served as the Mahaska County recorder from 1967 until 1986. On October 14, 1940, Frieda was united in marriage to John "Clifford" Gray. Clifford died in August 1972. On January 28, 1978, she married Myrle Akerman. Myrle died October 9, 2010. Frieda was a member of the Faith Community Church in Eddyville. She held office in the Oskaloosa Women's Club, was active in the Republican Party, and enjoyed following politics and workong at polling locations during election times. She enjoyed gardening. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter: Marsha Gray of Eddyville; her son: Alan (& Laura) Gray of Eddyville; and a stepson: David (& Peggy) Akerman of Pensacola, Florida. Frieda was preceded in death by her husbands: Clifford and Myrle; her parents; a daughter: Linda Gray Gardner; a sister: Florence Rodwell; and two brothers: John and Burtus Wouda. As was her wish, Frieda's body has been cremated, and no services are planned. Her cremated remains will be buried at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville at a later date. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
