Frieda Larson passed away quietly at the Scenic Manor, Tuesday morning, September 10, 2013, at the age of 98. Frieda Louise Wilhelmina (Brinkmeyer) Larson was born on August 20, 1915 to Paul and Amelia (Mannetter) Brinkmeyer. She was the first in a family of 11 children, 6 girls and 5 boys. She was born and raised on the family farm in Concord Township, 5 miles southwest of Hubbard, Iowa. Frieda received her elementary education at rural Concord #1 and graduated from Hubbard High School in 1933. She was a lifelong member of the Zion United Church of Christ, (formerly Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church), Hubbard, baptized by Rev. William Buehler and confirmed by Rev. Frederick Rodenbeck. Frieda was an active member of the Ladies Aid, served as a Bible School and Sunday School teacher, and as a Girl Scout Leader. On February 27, 1938, she was united in marriage to Harry M. Larson of Roland, Iowa at the Zion Church Parsonage by Rev. Erick Bizer. The first 5 1/2 years of their marriage, they lived in Waterloo where Harry worked for the Rath Packing Company. Their daughter Karen was born on August 16, 1943, and one week later Harry was inducted into the Army during Word War II. Frieda and Karen then moved back home with her parents to the family farm for 2 ½ years till the war was over. When Harry was discharged from the service they started farming. They farmed in the Roland, Hubbard, and Iowa Falls area. Upon retirement, they moved back to Hubbard. Frieda and Harry loved to travel, play cards, and go fishing. Harry died in 1993. Frieda spent her last years at Scenic Living Communities in Iowa Falls. Preceding her in death were her husband Harry Larson, daughter Karen Larson, parents Paul and Amelia Brinkmeyer, 2 sisters Kathleen Murray and Jean Tesdahl and 3 brothers Freeman, Donald, and Kermit Brinkmeyer. Those remaining to cherish her memory are 3 sisters, Charlotte Wilson, Marian Herrington, and Joan Juehring, 2 brothers, Paul (Arloene) Brinkmeyer, Philip (Arlene) Brinkmeyer, brother-in-law Cecil Tesdahl, sister-in-law Margaret Brinkmeyer, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
