Welty, Miss Bonnie Tott, Vinton Arnold and Joe Liggett, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Now The Day Is Done" accompanied by Mrs. Lloyd Dowd. Pallbearers included Hurl Lowcock, G. Ostheimer, Alva Baker, Jow Fricke, Kenneth Bell and R.A. Furman. Obituary Fritz Kubli was born Dec. 28, 1888, at Pleasantville, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on April 14th, 1946, at the age of 58 years, 8 months, and 14 days. Mr. Kubli grew into manhood in Pleasantville and was united in marriage with Vena Ogle on Dec.29, 1909. Up to the time that they came to Spirit Lake in 1911, Mr. Kubli had been a farmer. Here he entered the employ at the state highway commission and later of the county. He always took pride in his work and found his greatest satisfaction in the appreciation of those whose lives were made easier by good roads. Mr Kubli also served faithfully with the local fire department for 10 years. Mr. Kubli first took sick four years ago last January and since that time has doctored at Rochcester, Iowa City, Sioux City and Esterville, besides Spirit Lake. He, however did not respond to medical treatment and his condition grew progressively worse. Thru his long illness he found comfort in his bedside presence and care of loved ones who, unable to furnish him coveted health, gave in generous measure of their strength to his service and of their love to his need. Neighbors and friends made the long ordeal more bearable by their many kindnesses. The end of the physical struggle came peacefully on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m., when his spirit returned to the God, whom he had confessed as a lad. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Eddy of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Opal Clarke of Lakefield, Minn. and a son, Guy, of Langdon. One son died in infancy. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Molly Jobes of Des Monies and Mrs. Emma Thornburg of Pleasantville and two brothers, Florian of Milo, Iowa, and Billy, of Pleasantville. There are also six grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors that mourn his passing. His kindhearted, quiet presence will be greatly missed in the circle of home and the company of friends who together learned to admire his sterlin qualities of character and life as well as workmanship.
