Description	:	CLINTWOOD, VA - Gail B. Hayes, 78, went to be with the Lord on Friday October 1, 2021 after a brief illness. Her family was at her side. Gail was a Christian and a member of the Slate Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and she loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. Hayes, 78, went to be with the Lord on Friday October 1, 2021 after a brief illness. Her family was at her side. Gail was a Christian and a member of the Slate Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and she loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. Gail was a fantastic cook, she was well known for the delicious meals she made and some of the best desserts ever. She loved to feed people and said it was worth all her efforts just to see them enjoy it. Gail was a caregiver by nature, always willing to help people in any way she could, cooking a meal, cleaning house or sitting with a child or an elderly person. She was a woman of many talents, she had an eye for decorating, she could put colors and patterns together and make thing look great. She had fantastic taste in clothing and kept not only herself looking great, but Eugene as well. She had a flair for flowers, plants and hanging baskets. She also had a green thumb, together with Eugene they raised some fantastic gardens, and put them to good use fixing wonderful meals and canning for later use. Gail was certainly not afraid of work and took pride in everything she did whether it was cooking, cleaning, sewing or hoeing the garden. She was a people person, quick to make new friends and hang on to the ones she had. She enjoyed good times with her family and friends, and when time were not so good, she was always there to lend a hand in any way she could. Gail always made you glad to be around her and made you feel better about yourself. She loved the Friday night lights, the feel of the big crowds and was proud supporter of the Clintwood Greenwave. Gail was preceded in death by her parents Willie Roy "Bill" and Florence (Fleming) Buchanan; her son Randall Meade and infant brothers Larry and Chester Buchanan. Survivors include her husband Eugene Hayes; a sister Patsy Mullins and husband Donnie; a brother David Buchanan and wife Kaye all of Clintwood, VA; her grandchildren Randa Meade-Nashville, TN; Nikki (Andrew) Duty-Bristol, TN; Jeremy (Amber) Mullins-Dante, VA; Staci (Dustin) Peters-Coeburn, VA; Israel (Mackenzie) Mullins-Pound, VA; Lacey Johnson-Clintwood, VA; and Briton Wallace-Bristol, TN; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and host of beloved friends. Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00pm Tuesday October 5, 2021 in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Ezra Davis, Jr and Elder Jeffery Arnold officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until time of services. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday October 6, 2021 at the Fleming Cemetery on Baker Ridge Road-Clintwood, VA with Elder Kelly McGuire officiating.. Israel Mullins, Jeremy Mullins, Ricky Mullins, Greg Mullins, Brad Mullins and Dustin Peters will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at Baker Funeral Home by 12:00 Noon to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery. Baker Funeral Home-Pound, VA is serving the family of Gail B. Hayes.
