Mrs. Groulik was born Jan. 28, 1919, in David City to Adam Henry and Emma (Wood) Bock. She graduated from David City High School and attended Doane College at Crete and the Lincoln School of Commerce. She worked in the AAA office in David City for several years before entering the WAVES, a branch of the Navy on Dec. 3, 1943. She was stationed in Washington, D.C., until her discharge on Feb 12. 1946. She married Theodore "Ted" Groulik on April 23, 1947 at Stanton. They made their home in Schuyler. She retired from the First National Bank of Schuyler in 1984 and moved back to David City. She was a member of the church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the American Legion, a 73 year Gold Star member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a 54 year member of the Eastern Star and held dual membership in the Schuyler Chapter 75 and Alma Chapter 20 in David City. She enjoyed sports, college and professional football and baseball, watching on TV and attending when her health permitted and keeping abreast of world affairs. She was a resident of St. Joseph's Villa in David City since October 2002. Survivors include her five sisters, Elaine (Elgin) Tonniges of rural Columbus, Jean (Herman) Hansen of David City, Donna (Jim) Lightbody of Lincoln, Maxine Riddle of Charlottesville, Va., and Jacqueline Mahlin of David City; and a sister in law, Kathleen Martin. She was preceded in death by her father, in August 1918; her mother and step father; her husband on June, 13, 1966; a brother, Louis Martin; an infant sister; and two brothers in law, Donald Mahlin and Eugene Riddle. Memorials are suggested to the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont, the church, and donor's choice.
