Description	:	G. Sheldon "Bill" Miller, 92, of Goldtown departed for heaven March 19, 2002, at home. He was a born again Christian. He was born March 1, 1910, the son of Richmond and Elizabeth (HIGGINBOTHAM) Miller of Dog Fork Road in Goldtown. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lahoma Coleman Miller; his brother, Hughlet Miller; and sisters, Glada Rhodes, Ethel Clendenin, and Diva Miller. Bill is survived by one son, Jerry Miller and his wife, Sharon of Charleston; a daughter, Susan Jones and her husband, Aaron of Goldtown. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lahoma Coleman Miller; his brother, Hughlet Miller; and sisters, Glada Rhodes, Ethel Clendenin, and Diva Miller. Bill is survived by one son, Jerry Miller and his wife, Sharon of Charleston; a daughter, Susan Jones and her husband, Aaron of Goldtown. He was so proud of his grandchildren, Michelle Miller, a freshman at West Virginia University Tech; Eric Miller, a sophomore at Sissonville High School; Jeremy Jones, a senior at the University of Tennessee, presently studying in Europe; Jonathan Jones, a writer for the Jackson Herald; Josh Jones, a Ripley High freshman; and Jamin Jones, a second grader at Kenna Elementary; nieces; nephews; and a host of loyal family and friends. Bill was valedictorian of his graduating class at Sissonville High School Class of 1933. He attended Morris Harvey College on a full scholarship personally bestowed upon him by Dr. Riggleman, college president. He was retired from Charleston Newspapers. He as an accomplished bluegrass and gospel musician, having sung and played for countless radio programs and cultural events. His children were raised in a home full of music and musicians, and his love of music lives on through them. Throughout his lifetime, Bill taught many students the fine art of banjo, guitar, violin, bass, and harmonica. He was a pioneer in teaching shape-note gospel quartet music to others. Bill was also regarded as a local expert in the field of genealogy, compiling historical records of generations of ancestry. He was regularly consulted by interested individuals and professionals, as well as newspapers and libraries, for his genealogy records.
