As a girl Gale had an aptitude for math and science and attained a degree in Nutrition - Home Economics from the University of Oklahoma. After graduating, her first position was at Walter Reed Medical Center as a nutritionist during WWII. Gale was commissioned as an officer after the Army-Navy Nurse Act of 1947, and worked at military hospitals around the United States throughout her career. She was proud of her service to this country. While working at Walter Reed Medical Center, Gale met her husband, army officer Dudley (Buddy) Brown of Luray Virginia. They were married for over fifty years. Although she had no children of her own, her surviving nieces and nephews will remember her always. Gale lived in Dallas for more than sixty years and was a long-time member of the Lovers Lane United Methodist church. She resided at her home until she experienced a brief illness, and passed away on November 30th at Baylor Hospital. She was 95 years old. The service for Gale will be held on January 24th at 1:30 pm in the Shipp Chapel of the Lover's Lane Methodist Church, Dallas, Texas.
