Gale June Gehrke, born April 6, 1925 north of Kimball, the daughter of Floyd and Lula (Edmisten) Fletcher. Gale graduated from Kimball High School in 1942 and was employed as a bookkeeper for a local business and then as an Xray Lab Technician for a local doctor’s office. Gale was married to Kenneth Gehrke on December 1, 1946 and lived on the farm south of Bushnell until moving into Bushnell in 1976. She was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, Grace Circle and the Altar Guild. Important in her life was love and service to her Lord and family and friends. Gale loved to sing in her younger years and sang in the church choir for years. She was active in Sunday school all during the years her children were growing up, teaching and playing the piano for the young Sunday School children. Church has always been a part of Gale’s life, realizing as the years went by how much she depended on God’s word. She was a member of the Tidy Ten Club, South of Bushnell which was formed in 1950; and the Granny Craft Club; she loved to bake pies and loved making quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gale was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was loved by her family and many of their friends. She served on the Bushnell Election Board for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing her Christian Fiction books with friends. She often commented that books were great friends that should be shared with anyone who enjoyed reading. Survivors include her son, David (LaVonne) Gehrke of Gilbert, AZ; daughters Carolyn Fletcher of Kimball, NE and Tami (James Ray) Argo-Ray of Gold Canyon, AZ and Kimball, NE; grandchildren, Staci Gehrke, of Mesa, AZ., Sean (Rachel) Conover of Omaha, NE., Amanda (Keenan) Waters of Brighton, CO., and Lorissa (James Barnum) Argo-Ray of Denver, CO; great grandchildren, Jesse Wood of Mesa, AZ, Hannah Wood of Mesa, AZ., Austin and Joshua Hill, Malachi and Isaiah Trujillo of Brighton, CO., and Asher and Reagan Conover of Omaha, NE.
