Schelling, 51, retired farmer, died of a heart attack, suffered while mowing the lawn at his North Richland tp. home Tuesday, May 14, 1963 according to Defiance county coroner, Dr. Francis M. Lenhart. He was found by Samuel K. Sunderland, Spencerville, who was driving a utility truck. Mr. Schelling was born in Adams tp. on Dec. 30, 1902, a son of George and Emma (Roehrig) Schelling. Lenhart. He was found by Samuel K. Sunderland, Spencerville, who was driving a utility truck. Mr. Schelling was born in Adams tp. on Dec. 30, 1902, a son of George and Emma (Roehrig) Schelling. He grew up in Adams tp. and in 1931 moved to the North Richland tp. farm where his death occurred. He was a member and a former trustee of Independence Methodist Church. Mr. Schelling leaves his wife, the former Ruth Keller; a son, Robert, 411 Seneca St.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Mary Lou) Zachrich, rt. 2, Holgate, and Mrs. Robert (Janas) Scantlen, rt. 6, Defiance; seven grandchildren: and two sisters, Mrs. John (Alta) Clemens, Defiance, and Mrs. Loran (Vera) Yoder, Wauseon. A son, Bernard, died in 1943, and a brother, Clyde, in 1956. Mrs. Schelling was at Hamilton Lake, Ind., at the time taking care of her father who is ill. The body is in the Mansfield-Mast funeral home. The body will be transferred at 1 p.m. Thursday to the Independence Methodist Church to lie in state until last rites at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, the Rev Robert J. Collier. The burial will be in the church cemetery.
