Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 8, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peetz with Fr. Robert Wedow officiating. Burial will follow in the Peetz Cemetery. Garald John Goranson, the son of Lloyd Fredolph and Sibbina Frances (Edwards) Goranson, was born on March 22, 1928, at Dalton, Neb. In 1930 the family moved to the farm six miles west of Peetz. He attended country school before boarding at St. Patrick's Academy in Sidney during his high school years. During Bud's sophomore year, his father injured his back and Bud had to return home to help with the farming. In 1994 Bud successfully completed his G.E.D. On Feb. 26, 1949, Bud was united in marriage to Marily Lea Peake at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sterling. The young couple had two children while living west of Peetz. In 1953, they moved to Sidney while Bud worked in construction and in the oil field. They added two more children to their family while living in Sidney. In 1960 they moved to Gillette, Wyo., for Bud's Oil Field Trucking work and completed their family with two more children. In 1966 they returned to the family farm near Peetz where they lived until his death. He is survived by his wife, Marily of Peetz; one daughter, Cecilia Mahon and husband Jim of St. Elmo, Ill.; four sons, Patrick and wife Joyce of Santa Cruz, Calif., Michael of Sidney and Bud's daughter-in-law, Debra of Peetz, Jonathon and wife Jacky of Littleton, and Eric and wife Nadine of Longmont; one sister, Luanna Chamberlain of Seattle, Wash.; one brother-in-law, Ronald Peake and wife Lois of Bathune; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Frances Katherine; one granddaughter, Angelee Goranson and one brother, Billy. A memorial is being established in Bud's name. Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service is in charge of Bud's care and funeral arrangements
