Description	:	Mrs. Howard Muirhead was a pioneer school teacher who passed away. As a child she attended public school at East Chilliwack, walking miles over rough roads. Her teacher was Miss Wallace (later Mrs. Joseph Brannick), the first teacher at East Chilliwack. There was no high school in the valley at the time, and Miss Patterson took her high school and Normal training at the coast. She taught at Harrison Mills, at Howe Sound and at Rosedale, these schools being like most of the schools in British Columbia at that time, ungraded, with classes from primary to entrance... Miss Patterson was outstanding as a teacher and at the same time, excelled in music. After her marriage to Mr. Howard Muirhead, she gave pianoforte lessons at her home near Rosedale. Mrs. Muirhead helped to organize the Upper Camp River Women's Institute, being a charter member, and served at one time on the executive committee She was fond of reading and brought to the institute much of her literary culture. Funeral Services for Mrs. Muirhead, 65, were held Monday from Henderson's chapel. Besides for husband, she is survived by a son Glen.
