He was always connecting with people and finding humor, whether he was having lunch or waiting for surgery. He also had a genius for exploring and not getting lost. Garnet is survived by his daughters Ann (Charles) Bauer of White Hall, MD.; Susan Anderson-Hodges of Roanoke VA.; grandson Matthew Bauer of White Hall, MD.; and family-by-choice Laura, Steve, and "granddaughter" Abbey Benn, White Hall, MD. He was predeceased by his wife Gloria S. Anderson; parents A.L. and E.S. Anderson; and brother A. Irwin and Howard S. Private interment was held July 31, 2018 at Bethel Church Cemetery, Pastor Todd Smith officiating. Pall bearers: Charles Bauer, Matthew Bauer, Laura Benn, Steve Benn, Ben Magness, Michael Zeller.
