O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is service the family. Garold Gene Warner was born June 1, 1950 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Leonard and Royetta (Larkin) Warner. He was raised south of Gibbon and received his education from Gibbon High School, graduating in 1969. While in high school, Gene was a standout athlete holding a cross country record for 30 years. Gene worked on the family dairy farm and raised cattle all his life. On April 11, 1981, he was united in marriage to Janice McIntosh. To this union, two children were blessed. Gene loved being outdoors, being around animals and enjoyed spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jan of Kearney; daughter Cathy (Brian) Carpenter of Kearney; son Gary Warner of Kearney; grandchildren Michaela, Nicole, Benjamin and Samantha Carpenter all of Kearney; sisters Betty (Bud) Stall of Gibbon, Marilyn (Tom) Schachta of Kearney, Rhonda (Albert) Martenson of Kearney; half-brothers Randy Cosner of Grand Island and Mervin Warner of Great Bend, KS, as well as, many nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; step mother Elinore Lyons Warner; half-sisters Connie Stevens Warner and Sandy Cosner Burson; brother and sister-in-law Don and June Warner.
