Description	:	Garth W. Lindsey, 84, died on Monday, March 31, 2008, at the Parkridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services were held April 2 at the Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard, with burial in the Hubbard Cemetery. A flag ceremony was provided by the Hubbard American Legion. Garth Wilbur was born on Oct. 3, 1923, in Rowan, one of three children born to Clarence and Eva (Steffens) Lindsey. He grew up on the farm and graduated from the Rowan High School in 1941. He was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippines and Japan during WW II. He was discharged as a Master Sergeant. On Sept. 12, 1953, Garth married Margaret Broer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in various places throughout the Midwest as Garth spent 36 years working for the railroad as a train dispatcher and in the power bureau. Garth was a Mason, a member of the American Legion, a member of the Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock, and a former member of Kiwanis International. He was passionate about fishing, traveling and the Chicago Cubs. Garth was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Beth Gram; and daughter-in-law, Angela Lindsey. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, a son, seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother. [From the Belmond (Iowa) Independent 2008.
