Description	:	Gary Allan Flaherty, son of John Edward and Alice Eileen Johnson Flaherty was born May 16, 1932 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life August 9, 2011 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa at 79 years of age. Gary graduated from Murray High School. Following high school, he served his country with the Army Artillery Corps during the Korean Conflict. While serving his country he also learned to fly, this led to a lifetime hobby of restoring and flying antique aircraft. Gary graduated from Murray High School. Following high school, he served his country with the Army Artillery Corps during the Korean Conflict. He later retired from farming and enjoyed a career as a Mercury Marine mechanic and eventually became a Customer Car Care Service Manager at a large dealership Gary's passion was anything with a motor; especially boats, street rods, and custom pickups. In his later years, Gary enjoyed photography and spent most of his time outdoors cruising around for that ideal shot. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Memorials: Memorial contributions may be directed to Clarke County Animal Shelter. Kale Funeral Home Gary Flaherty, 79, of Ankeny died Aug. 9, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. The Rev. Marty Burgus officiated. Interment was in Murray Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Clarke County Animal Shelter.
