Gary attended Fremont Schools and resided in Fremont all of his life. Gary married Edith Banghart and they had two children, Connie and Kenneth. They later divorced. Gary married Marlene Reick and was stepfather to her four children. The marriage ended in divorce. Gary later married Nancy (Fisher) Snyder in 1985. He served in the National Guard from 1953 to 1955, was a member of Fremont Eagles Club, American Legion Post 20 and Elkhorn Valley Rifle Club. He is survived by wife, Nancy of Fremont; daughter, Connie Hicks of Alliance, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Lori Hopper of Newman Grove, Nebraska; sister, Marlene Jurgens of Fremont; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; nieces, Diane and Debbie; stepchildren, Terry Wheelock of Omaha, Nebraska, Randy (Karen) Wheelock and Vanessa (Dick) Fisher all of Fremont and Paula Pratt of Colorado; sixteen step grandchildren and thirty-three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents; son, Kenneth Hopper; sister, Winona Farris; brother, Kenneth Hopper; niece, Janice; brother-in-law, Leon Jurgens; and step daughters, Susan Tucker and Christine Hoops. Funeral service at 1:30 P.M., Friday, December 23, 2016 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Leland Foreman will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials are suggested to the Dodge County Humane Society." Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 N. Somers Ave., Fremont, NE 68025.
