Gary Lee Pepmeier was born November 13, 1957, in Davenport, the son of Alfred and Coletta (Williams) Pepmeier. He graduated from Wheatland Community High School in 1976. He attended two years at the University of Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Robert E. Lee submarine for six years. Following his discharge, he returned to the University of Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. He became employed with Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, until he retired. He was a care provider for his father. A voracious reader, he enjoyed science fiction, going to movies and keeping journals. He would support his community in any way he could. He was a private person, but would do anything he could for those he cared for. Surviving are one brother, Gregory (Gayle) Pepmeier of DeWitt; and one sister, Missy (Scott) Shepler of Chillicothe, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. Chapman Funeral Homes
