Description	:	Gary L. Westrick, age 73 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Majestic Care of New Haven, Indiana. He was born on December 31, 1948 to the late Florence (Coressel) and Vincent J. Westrick. Gary attended Richland Adams School and was a graduate of Tinora High School. On April 2, 1968 he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War from March 30, 1969 to March 19, 1970. Westrick, age 73 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Majestic Care of New Haven, Indiana. He was born on December 31, 1948 to the late Florence (Coressel) and Vincent J. Westrick. Gary attended Richland Adams School and was a graduate of Tinora High School. On April 2, 1968 he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War from March 30, 1969 to March 19, 1970. He proudly earned a National Defense and Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two orange bars, Expert M-14 Ribbon, and Expert M-16 Ribbon. He was discharged on March 19, 1970 ranked Specialist 5th Class with 1st Calvary Division. Gary was the owner of Westrick Transportation for many years. He enjoyed farming, driving trucks and tractors, and singing karaoke. Gary will be sadly missed by many good friends and all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton St.) in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens with military graveside honors accorded by VFW #3360. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to K.A.V.I.C. (Keller Assists Veterans In Crisis).
