Gary LeRoy Baker was born March 27, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Melvin and Bertha (Baker) Baker. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963, where he was very active in Future Farmers of America (FFA). He attended Clinton Community College and Iowa State University. He married Becky Smith on September 5, 1970, at the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church. Together they farmed, until retiring. He was active in the community over the years, including serving as member and past president of the Anamosa Jaycees and received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award, chair of the church Administrative Council and trustee of the church, member of the Jones County Pork Producers and received the Master Pork Producer Award and was on the board of Linn Mutual Insurance. He enjoyed model trains and worked diligently to restore his Ford tractor. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family. Surviving are his wife, Becky; one daughter, Heidi (Ken Wendt) Baker; two sons, Chris (Lora) Baker and Dan (Dana Lighthall) Baker; five grandchildren, Dalton Robinson, Cody Baker, Ryan Baker, Caleb Baker and Lexi Jo Baker; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Aiden; two sisters, Sharon (Orv) Banasik and Sandra Burns; and one brother, Ron (Kathie) Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents, his paternal grandparents, Fred and Alice Baker and his maternal grandparents, Mervin and Katherine Baker. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services
